Understanding Rogowski Coils for Load Limiting

A Rogowski coil is a flexible, open-ended sensor used for measuring alternating current (AC). Unlike traditional CT (current transformer) clamps, it does not have a magnetic core, making it lightweight and easier to install around conductors without disconnection. While it functions similarly to a CT clamp, a Rogowski coil operates using a different principle, offering greater flexibility in load monitoring applications. A Rogowski coil tends to fit around larger cables than CT clamps, allowing larger loads to be managed.

NexBlue’s Rogowski coils are designed with the same connector as our standard CT clamps, ensuring seamless compatibility with our current sensors. This means you can easily integrate them into existing systems without requiring additional adapters.

For three-phase monitoring, you will need three Rogowski coils. They are typically sold in packs of three, but it is always best to check before ordering to ensure you receive the correct quantity for your installation.

Rogowski coils provide an effective and reliable solution for load monitoring and limiting. Their flexibility, compatibility with NexBlue’s current sensors, and ease of installation make them an excellent choice for managing site load limitations efficiently.
